All-on-X Implants in Glen Burnie

Are you missing most or all of your teeth? Do you have several teeth that are badly damaged or failing? If so, you may wonder what your options are besides dentures.

All-on-X implants at Glen Burnie Dental Group are one possible solution. Using the All-on-X approach, we can replace an entire row of teeth (called an arch) with fewer implants, rather than one implant for each missing tooth. The ‘X’ refers to the number of implants needed, which is typically 4 to 6. You may also hear this approach referred to as All-on-4®.

Am I a Candidate for All-on-X?

Many people are good candidates for All-on-X implants, but they’re not right for everyone. Here is what your dentist looks for:

  • How much bone is available to support implants
  • Your gum health
  • Whether you smoke
  • Whether you can keep up with daily cleaning and checkups

Our dentists use CBCT imaging and digital scans to precisely plan implant placement for the best results.

Benefits of All-on-X Implants

For patients with extensive tooth loss, All-on-X implants offer real advantages over other options:
Feel More Like Natural Teeth
All-on-X attaches to implants rather than resting on your gums, so many patients find it feels and functions more like natural teeth, without shifting like removable dentures.
No Daily Removal or Soaking
All-on-X implants stay in place. You brush and care for them like natural teeth, without needing to remove, clean, or soak them as with traditional dentures.
Help Prevent Jawbone Loss
Unlike dentures, All-on-X implants keep your jawbone strong and healthy, which may slow the bone loss that often happens after tooth loss.

Frequently Asked Questions

This depends on the condition of each tooth, not just how many teeth you have left. In some cases, a tooth with a low chance of survival is better removed. In others, a tooth we can still save is often worth keeping.

What We Look at Before Recommending All-on-X

  • The health of gums and bone around each tooth
  • Presence of decay or cracks
  • Past dental work, like fillings or crowns
  • Whether the tooth or implant is likely to remain stable long-term

Why This Matters

Removing a tooth just to make treatment simpler isn't always the right choice, even if All-on-X may be a good option for you later. Your dentist looks at each tooth individually and compares it to what all-on-x could offer. That way, the plan is based on your actual mouth, not convenience.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I be without teeth while my implants heal?

In many cases, no. We can usually place temporary teeth on the day of surgery, but this depends on your treatment plan. Your dentist will let you know what to expect.

Can I get All-on-X if I have bone loss?

It depends on how much bone loss. All-on-X implants are placed at an angle so they may work for you even with some bone loss. We will use technology to check your bone and tell you if you need preparation first.

Can All-on-X implants fail?

As with any implant treatment, failure is possible, though it's not common. Following your dentist's care instructions and keeping up with checkups helps your new teeth last as long as possible.

All-on-X Implants Technology

CBCT Cone Beam Technology

CBCT Cone Beam Technology

Some situations call for more than a standard x-ray can provide. CBCT (cone beam computed tomography) captures a detailed 3D image of your teeth, jaw, and surrounding bone, giving us a complete picture of your oral anatomy before we begin treatment.

This level of detail is especially valuable for complex treatment planning, such as dental implants, all-on-x, and certain root canal cases. Rather than working from a flat image, we can see the exact shape and location of your bone, nerves, and canals in three dimensions. That means we plan your treatment around your actual anatomy, not an estimate, which supports more predictable outcomes and a higher standard of care.

What to Expect with the All-on-X Treatment Process

Treatment starts with a full evaluation so we can create your treatment plan. From there, you can expect the following steps:

  • Numbing your mouth
  • Removing the teeth we can’t save
  • Placing the implants
  • Fitting temporary teeth to give you a complete smile while you heal
  • Healing time over several months as your implants bond with your jawbone
  • Placing your final teeth

How Much Does All-on-X Cost?

All-on-X is a significant investment. Cost depends on a few things:

  • Whether one or both arches need treatment
  • How many teeth we need to remove
  • How many implants you need
  • Whether your jawbone needs preparation first
  • Your temporary and final teeth

Most insurance doesn’t cover the cost of implants, but some may cover a portion. Our team will check your benefits before we begin any treatment. We also offer financing through CareCredit, Sunbit, and Cherry.

Caring for Your New All-on-X Teeth

Getting All-on-X isn't the end of your dental care. You still need to clean around and under your new teeth and keep up with routine dental checkups. All-on-X implants are designed to last for many years with proper care.
