Dr. Kunhyung Kim
Endodontist
Education and Experience
Dr. Kim earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine from Boston University in 2014 and completed a General Practice Residency at Montefiore Medical Center in New York. After four years in general dentistry, he pursued his passion for endodontics and completed a two-year specialty residency at Nova Southeastern University in 2021.
Experience and Approach
Dr. Kim joined Glen Burnie Dental Group in 2021 immediately after completing his specialty training. His path to dentistry began with an unlikely motivator—significant dental anxiety from difficult childhood experiences that inspired him to provide the kind of care he wished he'd received. That empathy shapes everything about his approach today.
He strives to create a calm, reassuring environment where patients feel heard and comfortable, and he takes particular pride in changing people's perceptions of root canal treatment. Many patients arrive expecting the worst and leave surprised by how manageable the experience actually was. Dr. Kim views endodontic care as a true team effort and values open communication with his assistants and front office staff to ensure every visit runs smoothly.
Outside the Office
Dr. Kim is a self-described lifelong learner who enjoys exploring new ideas through books, podcasts, and online platforms. He loves trying new restaurants and different cuisines. Each morning before patients arrive, he finds a meditative calm in meticulously organizing his instruments, a ritual that centers his focus for the day ahead. And perhaps the most surprising thing about Dr. Kim: Despite being an endodontist, he still considers himself a nervous dental patient, which only makes him more patient and empathetic with the people in his chair.
