Dr. Nader Afgan

General Dentist

Education and Training

Dr. Nader earned his Bachelor of Arts with Honors in German Language and Literature from the University of Maryland, College Park before receiving his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Maryland, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery. During dental school, he completed one-year clerkships in both oral surgery and pediatric dentistry, gaining advanced training in each discipline.

Experience and Practice Leadership

After graduating in 2013, Dr. Nader spent three years in private practice before purchasing Glen Burnie Dental Group in April 2016. Since then, he has grown the practice by building a strong team and navigating the business through its ups and downs with steady, positive momentum.

He formerly served as a Dean's Faculty member at the University of Maryland, where he worked as a clinical instructor for pre-doctoral dental students. Today, he continues to pursue continuing education to stay current with advances in the field. Dr. Nader is fluent in German and Farsi and conversational in Spanish.

Dr. Yoon Shin

General Dentist

Education and Training

Dr. Shin earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. Before pursuing dentistry, he spent several years working as an engineer, an experience that gave him a deep appreciation for the variety and hands-on problem-solving that a career in clinical care offers.

Experience and Approach

Dr. Shin joined Glen Burnie Dental Group in 2024. His connection to dentistry runs deep: His father has been a dental lab technician for over 40 years, so he grew up understanding the impact the profession can have on people's lives, from restoring a confident smile to simply helping someone enjoy a good meal. That perspective drives his approach today. He enjoys seeing new and familiar faces every day, sharing his clinical knowledge with patients, and watching them grow in their understanding of dental health.

Outside the Office

Dr. Shin and his wife share a love of hiking high-altitude mountains, with treks in the Alps and the Andes among their adventures. Closer to home, he enjoys playing golf, listening to audiobooks, and cheering on the Washington Capitals. He also holds a black belt in Taekwondo.

Dr. Karthik Cherukuri
(Dr. C.)

General Dentist

Education and Training

Dr. Cherukuri—known to his patients as Dr. C.—earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry and completed a General Practice Residency at the Philadelphia VA Medical Center.

Experience and Approach

Dr. C. began practicing dentistry in 2017 and joined Glen Burnie Dental Group in 2019. His interest in the field was sparked during college, when he spent several weeks shadowing his own dentist and saw firsthand the immediate impact a dentist can make in someone's life. That experience stuck with him, and it shows in his work today. He finds the most rewarding part of the job is helping patients who haven't been able to smile in a photo for years regain their confidence. Working alongside his assistants to restore those smiles is what drives him every day.

Outside the Office

Dr. C. is a self-described foodie who loves exploring different cuisines and restaurants whenever he gets the chance. He's an avid skier and a dedicated Formula 1 fan. And one fun fact his patients might not guess: He used to have hair.

Dr. Jaewoo Park

General Dentist

Education and Training

Dr. Park earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from New York University College of Dentistry, where he distinguished himself in cosmetic dentistry, endodontics, and prosthodontics. As the youngest in his class, he became a dentist at just 24 years old. He furthered his training at Yonsei University College of Dentistry in South Korea, working alongside specialists in oral surgery, periodontics, prosthodontics, endodontics, and TMJ disorders.

Experience and Approach

Dr. Park joined Glen Burnie Dental Group in 2018, bringing a keen artistic eye and skilled hand to his clinical work. He is especially passionate about cosmetic dentistry and takes pride in earning the trust of his patients and teammates, something he considers the most rewarding part of the job.

Outside the Office

When he's not practicing dentistry, Dr. Park enjoys traveling, watching movies, and playing violin. He also has a taste for fine whiskey and a flair for streetwear fashion outside of scrubs.

Dr. Kunhyung Kim

Endodontist

Education and Experience

Dr. Kim earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine from Boston University in 2014 and completed a General Practice Residency at Montefiore Medical Center in New York. After four years in general dentistry, he pursued his passion for endodontics and completed a two-year specialty residency at Nova Southeastern University in 2021.

Experience and Approach

Dr. Kim joined Glen Burnie Dental Group in 2021 immediately after completing his specialty training. His path to dentistry began with an unlikely motivator—significant dental anxiety from difficult childhood experiences that inspired him to provide the kind of care he wished he'd received. That empathy shapes everything about his approach today.

He strives to create a calm, reassuring environment where patients feel heard and comfortable, and he takes particular pride in changing people's perceptions of root canal treatment. Many patients arrive expecting the worst and leave surprised by how manageable the experience actually was. Dr. Kim views endodontic care as a true team effort and values open communication with his assistants and front office staff to ensure every visit runs smoothly.

Dr. Anil Reddy Manda

Endodontist

Education and Training

Dr. Manda earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine from Boston University, Goldman School of Dental Medicine, and went on to complete his endodontic residency at Temple University, Kornberg School of Dentistry. He has served in the U.S. Army Reserve as a dentist since 2008 and was deployed to Kuwait on active duty in 2013.

Experience and Approach

Dr. Manda has practiced dentistry since 2002 and joined Glen Burnie Dental Group in 2020 as an endodontist. As a root canal specialist, he finds the most rewarding part of his work is providing patients with instant relief from pain—a tangible result he can see with every procedure. He has also dedicated time to dental missions on Native American reservations and in other underserved communities with limited access to care.

Outside the Office

When he's away from the practice, Dr. Manda is an avid traveler who prefers to explore the world solo. Though his path to dentistry was unexpected, he considers it a blessing, one that allows him to make a meaningful difference in people's lives every day. And while his serious expression might not give it away, those who know him will tell you he has a great sense of humor.
